Mozart for Our Brain

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) is a genius boy from Salzburg, Austria. He composed over 600 songs since he was five years old. His musics have high frequency to stimulate hearing centre in our brain. In early 1990, Dr France H. Rauscher and Dr. Gordon Shaw from University of Wisconsin in their experiment show that students who heard Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major K448 for 10 minutes have a better test result compare to those who don’t listen. People who often listen to classic music, especially Mozart, will improve their spatial tempotral reasoning. This is called Mozart Effect.

Spatial temporal reasoning has a role to create, to keep, to change, and to connect all mental complexity even when there is no stimulation from external. Mathematic, sains, physics, chess game, and music involve this spatial.

Dr. Raucher and Hua Li, genetic expert from Standford University, California, made a research using mice. Mice which heard Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major K448 have a better study and memory test. From those mice, researcher found there is BDNF gen expression improvement (a growth neuron factor). There’s also CREB improvement (subtance to study and memorize) and synapsin I (a synaps protein for connecting between nerve). All this improvement happens in hippocampus. Hippocampus is a part of our brain which have a role in emotion, memory, and navigation. In Alzheimer, hippocampus is attacked first, so the patient has dissorientation and memory disturbance. After Alzheimer pateint hear Mozart sonata there is improvement in their life. For epilepsy this sonata can reduce seizure. This effect cannot be found in other kind of music.

The researchers from Chinesse University of Hongkong in 2003 tell us that masic can improve verbal skill especially in children. Another research from University of Western Sydney tells us that music help recovery and keeps normal growth of the baby.

There are advantages from hearing Mozart, it’s not just listening it’s brain improving….^^

How to calculate your daily energy

Every day our body needs energy to do activities. It is important to balance between food intake and energy produced. Too much food intake will make obesity and in the opposite too much activities without adequate intake will make ouy body weak, low concentration, and easily sick.

Energy is made by metabolism of carbohydrate, protein, and fat. Each gram of carbohydrate equals to four kilos calorie, one gram of proteins equals to four kilos calories, and one gram of fat equals to nine kilos calorie.

It is very wise to know how much energy do we need every day, so that we can consume balance diet to keep our body fit and preform high perfomance.

Total energy is depend on:

· Basal Metabolism Rate (BMR)

· Activites

· Stress Factor

1. Basal Metabolism Rate is minimal energy needed without doing any activities.

There are 3 formulas of BMR. You are free to choose one of this formula. Broca formula is most common used. Don’t use these formula for children less then 9 years old.

a. Harris Formula

for men = 66 + 13.7 (Body weight) + 5 ( Body height) – 6.8 (Age in years)

for women =65.5 + 9.6 (Body weight) + 1.8 (Body height) – 4.7 (Age in years)

b. Broca Formula

for men = 1 x Ideal Body Weight* x 24 hours

for women = 0.9 x Ideal Body Weight *X 24 hours

c. Fast Formula

for men = 30 x Ideal Body Weight*

For women = 25 x Ideal Body Weight*

Note:

*Ideal Body Weight = 90% (Body height -100)

Body weight is in kilograms and body height is in centimeters

2. Activities

Activites are depend what kind of activites that dominant in your daily life.

Activities

Point

Bed rest

Sleep

1.2

Light

Typying, writing, reading, watching television and others low mobility activities

1.3

Medium

Dancing, jogging, midwife activity, and others medium mobility activities

1.4

Heavy

Heavy lifting, wrestling, mining, athlete, etc

1.5

3. Stress Factor

Stress Factor is added only in sick condition.

Stress factor

Mild (diarrhea, vomiting, gastritis, influenza, cough, others common infection)

1.4

Moderate (surgery)

1.5

Heavy (multiple trauma, sepsis, cancer)

1.6

Severe (related to vital organ: heart, brain, lung)

1.7

Burned wound or combustio > 40% body surface

2.1

The Total Energy = BMR x Activities x (Stress factor (only in sick condition))

Case:

Mr X. 30 years old, has diarrhea

Body weight 70 kg

Bdy height 165 cm

Occupation: writer

1. BMR (Broca)= 1 x Ideal Body Weight* x 24 hours

1x 90% (Body height -100)x 24

1 x 58.5 x 24 = 1404 calorie

2. Activities

Writer= Light activities = 1.3 points

3. Stress Factor

Diarhhea = Mild = 1.4

Total Energy = BMR x Activities x (Stress factor (only in sick condition))

1404 x 1.3 x 1.4 = 2555.28 calories/day

Seven Habits That You Shoudn't Do After Meal

First : Do NOT smoke
Experiment from expert prove that smoking ONE cigarette after meal is equal with smoking TEN cigarettes.
(The chances to get cancer become higher)

Second : Do NOT eat fruits immediately
Eat fruits immediately after meal will cause your stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit one up to two hours after meal or one hour before meal.

Third : Do NOT drink tea
The substance will cause the protein content in the food that we consume to be harden thus difficult to digest.

Fourth : Do NOT loosen your belt
Loosen belt after meal will easily caused the intestine to be twisted and block.

Fifth : Do NOT bath
Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs and body, thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

Sixth : Do NOT walk about
People always say that walking after meal a hundred step will live till 99. In actual fact this is NOT true. Walking will cause the digestive system unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

Seventh : Do NOT sleep immediately
The food we intake were unable to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric and infection in our intestine.
